Inspired by the geometry and repetition of antique decorative tiles, the underlying design is carefully structured and symmetrical, radiating outwards from the centre like a kaleidoscope. Over the top, scattered paint marks deliberately disrupt that precision, giving the scarf a much freer and more contemporary character.
Look closely and there is an extraordinary amount of detail: circles, chequerboard forms, architectural lines and fragments of pattern continually change in scale across the scarf.
