A striking pure silk scarf inspired by Peter Paul Rubens’ celebrated painting Samson and Delilah, reimagined as a contemporary composition of line, colour and fragmented figures.
Rather than reproducing the painting itself, the design picks out details of figures, gestures and objects from the original artwork and redraws them in fine black line. These classical fragments overlap bold blocks of vivid red and pink against a warm creamy-white ground, creating an unexpected meeting between Old Master painting and contemporary textile design.
Look closely and individual figures and details begin to emerge; when the scarf is folded and worn, they break apart again into an almost abstract arrangement of line, shape and brilliant colour.
Printed on pure silk and generously sized at 90cm square, the scarf is finished with a hand-rolled and hand-stitched hem.
